1. Purpose of This Guide
This artefact proves that your organisation has appointed and registered a Data Protection Officer (DPO) with the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC).
Under PDPA Data Protection Essentials Clause 1.1.1, appointing and registering a DPO is mandatory.
It establishes clear accountability for data protection and gives PDPC (and the public) a known point of contact for PDPA matters.
Think of this as planting your flag: “This person owns data protection here.”
2. What You Will Submit
You will upload confirmation evidence of DPO registration.
This is typically:
-
A confirmation email from PDPC acknowledging successful DPO registration, or
-
A screenshot of the confirmation message or registration status page
The evidence should clearly show that the registration was completed.
3. How to Collect / Obtain This Evidence
Step 1: Register your DPO with PDPC
Register your appointed DPO via the official PDPC registration page:
You will need:

Organisation details

Step 2: Receive registration confirmation
After submission, PDPC will send a confirmation email acknowledging the registration.
This email is your primary evidence.
Step 3: Capture evidence
Save or screenshot the confirmation showing:
-
PDPC as the sender
-
Confirmation of successful DPO registration
-

You may redact:
-
Personal phone numbers
-
Internal reference IDs
Just don’t redact the confirmation itself.

5. What “Good” Looks Like
Strong DPO registration evidence includes:
-
Visible Element: PDPC sender or branding
Why it matters: Confirms the registration is official. -
Visible Element: Confirmation of successful registration
Why it matters: Directly fulfils Clause 1.1.1. -
Visible Element: Organisation or DPO reference

If an assessor can see “Yes, this organisation has a registered DPO” in seconds — you’re done.
