What this fixes
SPF lists which servers are authorized to send mail for your domain. See Fixing SPF Record Issues for what it does and why it matters — this guide gives you the exact record for Google Workspace and where to add it in GoDaddy.
This assumes GoDaddy is managing your DNS (not just registration with DNS hosted elsewhere).
The record
v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com ~all
Google's own guidance recommends ~all (soft fail) rather than -all. If you send mail through other services too, add their include: mechanisms alongside Google's in the same record.
How to add it in GoDaddy
- Log in to your GoDaddy account and go to your Domain Portfolio.
- Select your domain to open Domain Settings, then click the DNS tab.
- Under Records, click Add.
- Set Type to
TXT. - Name/Host:
@ - Value: paste the record above.
- Leave TTL at the default.
- Click Save.
- Re-run your scan to confirm.
Note: GoDaddy only allows one SPF-type TXT record per domain — if one already exists, edit it rather than adding a second.
Common pitfalls
- Adding a second SPF TXT record — GoDaddy (and the SPF spec) only allows one.
- Editing the wrong existing TXT record if you have several — double-check the Name/Host column shows
@.
